As our 4th Year Apprentices focus and practice for their final Carpentry & Joinery Skills Test assessment, our Red Mason Bees are also preparing for their next big milestone – the start of their flight season.
In this video, we carefully transfer over 220 cocoons from their overwintering spot in a sheltered woodshed, into our purpose-built hatchery and release drawers.
Once the temperature consistently reaches 10°C and above, our adult bees will naturally emerge from their cocoons, each one making its way out of our bee hotel via the flight hole – beginning the next stage of their journey.
Just like our Apprentices, these bees are developing step by step, ready to contribute, grow, and make their mark.
