In their 1st Year of Carpentry & Joinery studies, our Apprentices take on the challenge of creating a traditional 4-panelled door entirely by hand. From drafting their own drawings to producing a detailed cutting list, this project sharpens their understanding of joinery terminology, techniques, and practices – essential skills for a future in the trade.
Fast forward to their 3rd and 4th Year, and the stakes are higher. Now, our Apprentices must apply what they’ve learned in the real world, gathering evidence from their day-to-day workplace to prove their competence and expertise.
Just like our solitary bees, who rely on their early experiences to build more intricate and efficient nests, our Apprentices build on their foundational knowledge, refining their skills with each task.
It’s all part of the journey – from simple frames to mastering the finer details of craftsmanship.
