Awareness is the foundation of success, whether in the journey of our apprentices or the flight of our bees.
Attached is an interesting excerpt from Cassell’s Book of Knowledge (from 1933) entitled ‘The Puzzle of a Bee’s Flight’.
“Perhaps you have noticed the extraordinary skill of many insects in whirling and darting and swooping through the air.
How they steer themselves so deftly in their sudden turns is still a mystery to science.
The illustration compares two flight patterns:
(A) The erratic, twisting flight path of a fly.
(B) The deliberate, zigzag approach of a bee as it nears a blossom.
However, once the bee has collected its load of pollen, it flies back to its nest in a perfectly straight path – so precise that the term ‘bee-line’ has come to symbolise the shortest, most direct route.”
Just like our bees, our Apprentices navigate challenges with a combination of skill, precision, and purpose, always staying focused on their goals and finding their bee-line to success.
