A mandatory component of our Apprentices’ 2nd Year college curriculum in Carpentry & Joinery, is Pitched Roof Construction – a critical and challenging milestone of their studies.
In this phase, each Apprentice is individually assessed on their ability to use traditional construction methods to craft a precise hip-end detail to their pitched roof.
This task requires advanced skills, including the geometric calculations of bevels and lengths for common, jack, and hip rafters. From meticulous planning to flawless execution, creating a hip-end detail is no small feat – but our Apprentices are rising to the challenge!
It’s not as easy as it looks, but their hard work and determination are paving the way to mastery.
