As we look back on the year, today’s clip gives us a glimpse into the work our bees have carried out quietly beside us — and the progress our Apprentices have made along the way.
In this video, one of our Apprentices opens-up a bee hotel after a full season of activity.
The hatchery drawer is filled with empty Red Mason bee cocoons, evidence of a successful spring emergence, now ready for a winter clean.
The nesting cassette shows each chamber neatly divided with mud partitions and sealed end caps — a testament to the determination and precision of the female bee.
Just as these flutes tell the story of a season’s effort, our Apprentices’ achievements do the same.
Some are completing their first year; others are now fully qualified – each developing step by step through commitment, care and consistent learning.
Next month we’ll begin cleaning, bathing and storing the cocoons in preparation for spring.
A new year and season of growth lies ahead for both our bees and our Apprentices.
