For this assessment, our Apprentice was required to install a door frame within a steel jig before fitting and hanging the door itself.
It sounds straightforward.
In reality, every measurement matters.
If the frame isn’t square, the door won’t hang correctly.
If the margins aren’t consistent, the finish won’t meet the required standard.
This is where practical skills, accuracy and patience come together.
Our Apprentice is completing the final practical stage of her Carpentry & Joinery apprenticeship at a time when the industry is still working to widen participation. What matters most, though, is the standard of work — and this assessment shows exactly that.
After four years of development, this is Apprenticeship Training in practice: not simply learning the craft, but proving it.
