While we eagerly wait for this spring’s bees to hatch from their cocoons, we’re taking a moment to look back at last year’s flight season — and a lovely little moment we captured on camera.
In today’s video, a female Red Mason bee returns to one of our bee hotels absolutely coated in pollen.
She’s determined to place it in her nest… but things don’t go quite to plan.
Two flutes are already occupied and fiercely guarded and several others just don’t feel like home.
She tries five before taking a breather in the uppermost flute, gathering herself before having another go.
And then, on the sixth attempt, instinct leads her straight to the right one — the flute she’s been working on all along.
Just like our Apprentices, she shows that progress isn’t always linear.
There are challenges, distractions and moments of uncertainty… but with patience and determination, the right path becomes clear.
Roll on spring — we can’t wait for the new season to begin.
